Help with constant sore throat

I know I have allergy and asthma problems which often trigger sinus infections. Since I've been on advair and nasonex I've gotten a lot less infections. Unfortunately, I've had a sore throat for a few weeks. I get it on and off now. I guess the medicines hold me off from full blown infections but not from a sore throat when all of the mucus is draining. (I also drain a lot more than normal which was caused from my sinus surgery I had almost 10 years ago).

Does anyone have any pain soothing ideas? I'm trying to drink water and take cough drops and irrigate my nose with the home made sinus wash/ syringe.

" Inhaled steroids can irritate your throat, but gargling with salt water and taking Motrin usually helps me. Is it possible your throat is sore because you've had to breathe through your mouth when sleeping?

I agree with NeeNerNeeNer -- it's especially important to rinse and GARGLE (with plain water) after Advair. I got a Candida mouth/throat infection after being on 3 courses of antibiotics and taking oral and inhaled steroids -- it is just no fun. "

" Deanna74 -- My thrush infection started with a burning tongue. Your doctor can do a culture test for yeast. In the meantime, he/she may recommend an antifungal such as Nystatin. If it is yeast, active culture yogurt will help, too. It took about two weeks to clear. "
