I have been on several different inhalers over the years. Salbutamol, beclamethasone and finally Symbicort. However, i have just moved from the UK the canada and my symbicort inhaler is literally the only inhaler not covered by my medicare so it costs around $70 a month for a new one each time. My doctor said i could go on a similar one that is covered by my insurance however.
I have gotten comfortable with my inhaler so i'm not sure how i feel about going on a different one. Has anyone had to change their inhaler due to insurance reasons?
I'm wondering if they'll be giving me a different dosage or if the chemicals in it won't work as well and i wont be happy with it?
Im glad i wont be paying as much but is changing my inhaler really for the better?
Thank you!

" I went through many before I found the one that really helps! Does your doc have any samples? Maybe you could contact the company to see if they could discount or give some samples?

Good luck!
Carol :) "

" I used to get samples too from my dr when I didn't have insurance. But I would definitely try something else that's covered first to see if u like it & give it a couple weeks. My new allergist recently wanted me to try switching to Symbicort from Advair which I tried but didn't like so I went back to Advair but I gave it about a month b4 deciding to go back. "

" I would definatly suggest that you go to the pharmacutical companies web site and get a discount. I think most pharm. companies have a discount program for people that are having trouble paying for their product. I was having a lot of trouble paying for my inhaler, but it was the only one that worked and I didn't want to change so I went online and was actually able to get it for free! "
