" I know that relationships are possible. However, you need a very understanding and patient partner who is willing to listen. All relationships take work, but I feel like if you have autism, it takes more work. That's because communication is one of the most important thing in a relationship (besides trust) and that is where we seem to have the most trouble.

I think the reason why my current relationship is still working, despite a lot of misunderstandings, arguments and wanting to break up, is not just that he is understanding and patient. I took an intensive outpatient therapy program for 2 months. That taught me how to handle my past better so I could deal with the present and future better. It also taught me communication skills and a lot of different types of coping skills, along with how to use them. "

" Of course they are possible. There are many Aspies out there in relationships. It takes time, effort and energy, but it is really worth it. We just have to learn to communicate better.

Yes, more easily said than done...but start learning about communication on a general level...go to the library...take some classes....and it is possible. "
