" Ouch! That really hurts!

My hubby has developed arthritis in his spine and had minor surgery today (Tues). I forget the name of the procedure but they fed 4 metal tubes next to his spine (2 each side) using an xray machine that kept snapping pictures as it was being guided by the doctor.

They couldn't knock him out until they got to the spine so they could tell if they hit something they shouldn't have (they did!).

Then then they injected cortisone directly into the problem areas. 8 hours later, hubby began to feel some relief from the arthritis pain, although the pain from the surgery is still really bad. Doc said 4-5 days and the surgery pain should ease dramatically, in addition to the back pain (10 on 10 scale).

Perhaps this is something you can try done in the future? Hubby developed arthritis in his spine and hips about 2 years after a massive stroke at age 49. He "went lopsided" which threw his skeletal system off.

I'm all about it after I go on Medicare, if congress doesn't snatch it away from my fingers before I get there (just 1 more year). I think Obamacare may not allow that kind of surgery for throwaways like me but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I too have 2 types of arthritis and fibromyalgia (and a million other autoimmune diseases) and I have to hybernate during the winter. Cannot stand cold seasons nor cold air conditioning.

The bad news: Cold packs are good to relieve severe back pain. Sigh...

Good luck and hang in there! "

" Please see your doctor and tell him what you just wrote here. my Moms back pin was much like yours and they keep saying it was the arthritis and fibro.. After 2 years of this suffering they found bone cancer in her spine.. I am not at all suggesting this could be what's happening in your case but it is worth getting it checked out.. "
