" Hello,
Hyalgan is one of the forms of the fake joint fluid they use for arthritic knees. They inject it into the joint space and it helps to cushion the joint for up to 6 months theoretically. I have had a similar thing - synvisc - injected in my knee and my ankle. It did nothing for the ankle. THe knee however is much better since, though its only been about a month. Some people swear by the stuff and get good relief from it. I am pleased so far. Its not much fun to get the injection, but it wasn't totally awful either. I say give it a try if you in a lot of pain. It might help!

" I had Hyalgan injections several years ago. I did not get relief from it, but several people I know had very good results. One bit of advice I can offer is to make sure you talk to your insurance company beforehand. The injections ended up costing me about $2000 out of pocket simply because I purchased the Hyalgan from the pharmacy and took it to my Dr's Office for the injections. If the doctor had provided the injections, it would have been covered 100%. Minor details that costs me a lot of money ... so just wanted to put that out there in case you haven't talked with your insurance company yet. GOOD LUCK!!

Peace,
Pipes "
