hi,
I am new to this site and also new to R.A. I had a very busy life with 2 children working full time and me and my girls also dance twice weekly and comps at the weekend. in feb i started getting very ill and kept being rushed in hospital with swellings to my face and throat, this went on for a month then one day a woke up crippled. i couldnt move out of bed as every joint in my body was in agony i was rushed into hospital where i stayed for 2 weeks this is when i was given the news i had R.A. It was a massive shock i seen my life crumble. i found it very hard to come to terms with and found there was no-one to talk too about what i was feeling. it was april when i started my treatment on methotrexate i take 12.5mg now but still having alot of problems with my hands. I have been told i can change the drug because my lovely thick head of hair is very thin since taking these drugs. I dont know what is best i dont know much about R.A. I would love any help as i am slowly going mad and want to get my life back as best as i can Posted on 10/15/09, 05:10 am |

Hi Sara,
I'm also new to this site, and I've Ra for 17 without diagnosis, and I was just diagnosed a year ago. I'm also on Methotrexate, and Enbrel. I also have thinning in my thick hair which it once was. I was wondering, are you on Enbrel or Humira?? The Ebrel seems to be helping with erosion of my joints. Maybe you should check into that or ask your Dr. about it. I don't know that much about Ra except that my Mom had very bad Ra. I hope you'll message me when you want to talk. I hope that you have a nice day and a pain free one as well as you can manage. Well, I have had lots of PT, shoulder, back, knee, ... and people get the hot wax on their hands, and like it! I hope this helps, but at least no side effects. good luck xoxoxo d eeee

thanks dotti51 and deeee for your replies. any help is great. i am going to ask my r.a doctor a long list of questions as the side effects of the methotrexate are kicking in now and im not sure if its worth taking these drugs anymore. i am having problems with the light my eyes really hurt in the daylight and at the computer and i believe this is also due to my tablets. let me know if any of you also suffer with this
