" I have terrible osteo in my neck too. It is a nightmare. It is slowly narrowing the nerve openings and the spinal cord opening as well. My arms go numb and tingly in my head gets off center at all. The best thing I found for it was chiropractor and massage. He kept it going really well. THen I developed osteoporosis and now he won't adjust my neck because he's afraid he'll break it. That really sucks. I take Ultram as well, and some days I have to take 400 mg, but I take it more for the osteo in my legs. I took voltaren for a long time, and it helped a lot, but it ate my stomach up after a while. Some people swear by celebrex but I can't take that either due to stomach. I often supplement the ultram with tylenol. I still get massages regularly and that helps. My chiro got another toy he uses to thump on my neck and back that seems to help too. I also use a lot of ice on my joints. Nothing works very well. Sad to say. Good luck . ..

" I have different pillows that help support my neck. One of them I use when it feels I have a pinched nerve and it's the onw with the husks in it. But the one I use the most is a feather pillow, not the down cause it wont stay the way I want it. And if I can only lay on my back a almost flat pillow. I don't do well with ice but love the heat! Hope I have been of some help. Chila : ) "

" I have found out that if I take an aspirin with a couple of ibufron it releaves the pain. But you have to be careful if you take other pain medications. "

" hi i also have arthritis in the neck amongst other things but i cant take anit-inflammorites because im allergic to them. ive been put in traction in physical therapy which i didnt see much of a difference i use heat an massage helps i even gotten shots in my neck which gave me minimal relief and used a stimulating machine. alot of people dont like narcotics but since i cant take the anit- inflam and over the counter stuff just dont touch nothing on me. so i use a narcotic heat and massage and excersise when i can. i didnt like the idea of taking a narcotic for a long time but it gave me relief so i accepted. " I'm new to an arthritis diagnosis, but not new to neck pain(I've had it for years). I feel like my one Doctor held the info from me.
Anyway, after trying most of the medicines you all have mentioned and a few more (including narcotics and marijuna). I just tried Amrix.
My Doctor gave me a 3 week supply of samples, and I'm excited to say it worked for me. It's a new drug, and a 30 day supply of 15mg pills at one a day is going to cost you about $322 a month.
I know that because I just asked my pharmacists today. You see, I am in a huge battle with my insurance company over this medicine.
They do not want to pay for it!!! I'm going to appeal their decision of course, but if I lose I will buy that medicine myself. It's that good......... "

" angee,
Amrix is the same medication as flexeril - just in an extended release form. You might find it a lot cheaper to get flexeril and take it 3 times a day instead. if you insurance company wont pay... Just a thought.

" along with much of the stuff the others said.
i ha dsome pretty good help from P.T.
i don't go anymore because of the expense even with the insurance.
but when i could go the things that helped me the most were.ultrasound, direct manipulation, and cervicle traction.gotta be real carefull with the traction..she used small poundage and watched real close, made me dizzy for awhile but did help. "
