" Tramadol (ultram) works on the same receptors as opiates even though it is not an opiate. It also works on serotonin re-uptake, which means it increases your serotonin level. Many people respond to it like a narcotic, others don't. It is habit forming and will cause withdrawal if stopped abruptly. Some people have a very hard time getting off it. I take it because I have to work and cannot take narcotics at work. It works fairly well for me. I take the 200 mg extended release once a day, and then 50 mg every 4-6 hours as needed. It keeps me going for the moment.

" I took it for a while and tried a couple different dosages. If it helped, I could not tell, and certainly not enough to warrant its main side effect - I couldn't sleep! I did abruptly stop taking it with no evident problems and began sleeping again. I then tried a narcotic that did help and had no adverse side effects. "

" im not sure if its habit forming but i took it and it did nothing for me it didnt touch my pain when i stop taking it i didnt have any withdrawl symtoms i just felt the same as before. but everybody is different and it affects people in different ways. i am on a narcotic which alot of people dont like but for me it helps me stay out of pain but that was not my first choice i tryed many other things that gave me no relief. " I take ultram 100mg once a day, but the thing that works for me the most is aspirin, plus I take a xanax with ibuprofen, that gives me a good nights sleep. "

" I tried trammadol. Doc said it would be better than other meds. Didn't work at all for me. Just stopped taking it and now have had some back pain relief on most days from an injection in the back. Good luck. "

" There is a new tramadol out, called requip ( I believe) it is time released, it sorta of takes the edge off I only take it when the pain is so bad I feel like I have to go to ER. Of course I have fibro, and small pains are big pains.
I do not take ultram because it has tylenol in it which is bad on the liver.
Have to be careful with NSAIDS also they thin yoiur blood.
Just read and educate yourself. "

" Tramadol (Ultram) does not have tylenol in it. It is also not the same as requip. They are different drugs. You can get ultram with tylenol, it is called utracet i believe. Ultram is a non opiate pain med that is NOT an NSAID. It is kind of its own group. It acts on the same receptors as the opiates do, and it is also a serotonin reuptake inhibitor like some of the antidepressants. Just wanted to clear the air......
