I have been told by my personal dr.s that I really cant work. I have osteo in all my joints, seizures, and COPD. The social security denied me twice first they said that I could still work because of my education and then the second time because they said that I could because I only feel pain at times. I am struggling extremely having 4 kids depend on me. Does anyone have ant suggestions. I do have a lawyer but shes saying it could be a year.

" Hi I know how you feel, but like everyone is saying it takes time,it took me 3times and i waited since 2006 and just got it in March.Do not give up it is hard.Think of the back money they will owe you then you don't get it all at once it is every 6 months until you are all paid out.Keep praying it works. " Thanks for the words of encouragement. I know it takes them time, says so right on the website...up to 5 months BEFORE they even review you. But I have waited this long just to do it again I can wait. My husband was fired from his job and sued for wrongful termination based on the job made him sick...took him 5 years but finally won...against the Federal gov't. He got a check for over 90Grand. He now receives an award for what 75% would be of his salary at the time he left plus medical benefits and a cost of living raise once a year. Not as good as a full retirement would have been had he not gotten sick but better than ssi or whatever. All I want is someone to recognize that the things wrong with me are there and real and I hurt. A young woman who lives nearby gets it because she has some kind of mental health issue and when she is on meds she is fine, she goes off whenever she feels like it and winds up in the lockdown unit. I take all sorts of pills to stop the pain and all it does is ruin other parts of me that were fine before. Every med I took for my bipolar had some type of side effect or they worked for a bit then stopped. I shake my head at all the nonsense. If I could work I would work. Last job I had I wound up leaving after a month as I hurt so bad by the end of the day i had to go to bed as soon as I got home just so I could get up and go do it again. I really wanted to work there too, would have been a good later life career. "

" Most ppl it takes three times to get on disability and up to three years as well. A long hard struggle for sure. Maybe you can get someone to help you while your going through this and then pay them back once you get disability. The wait is worth it and dont give up. "

" Hi i read what you said and I to have filed for social security. I don't much to go on, I have been to the doctor for several year about my knees and legs, Have had supervisual bloodclots butnothing severe. I had to stay in bed alot for them. But not until the last 3 yeats have I gotten worse. My knees hurt so bad that it feelos like if i make the wrong move they will break in half backwards if that make any sense. the pain is in my right hand around the wrist and in the thumb area. I go to bed at nights wraped like a mummy to keep the pain to a minamual. Pillows don't help for my knees and icy hot well if i could by it by the case i would and ibiphone to but the pain stays. I walk with a cane afraid of falling or bending my knees the wrong way and the can helps to support me. To I can't hardly catch my breath when I walk and all this has gotten 10 times worse since I got laid off last year and I am only 50, what is the rest of my life going to be like. Ye they say ask for family amd friends to help but how, they are just as poor as i am. "

" You have the first thing of importance; an attorney. SS will deny everyone, several times. My friend finally got her SS after 5 years of fighting it.

I know it's horrible having to work, have family depend on you, etc. I am in the same boat as you are. "

" Now my 26 year old daughter may have to join this circus to receive benefits. She has worked since she was 18 years old, now has 3 bulging disks and mild scoliosis was found during her MRI. They are talking surgery, but then she still cannot work until she is healed from that. The disk problem was caused by her line of work and she gets worse every day. She is scared to death to even try to get some disability so she can recover then either go back to work in her field or retrain for something less straining on her physically. BUT she has to have some money coming in to pay her rent and bills, she cannot do it on nothing. If need be she could move back home for a while, we could make room, but not for a 3 or 4 year wait...no way. She would either kill us or we her, depending on who snapped first. She has always been so independant that this is killing her too. She leads her own life and has her own way of doing things and for her to have to come home and live with mommy again would be devastating to her. It makes me so angry when I see all these people around me that get disability of some sorts simply because they had been addicts or alcoholics and never worked a day in their lives yet when hardworking people find themselves in a situation where they can no longer work or do what they have done for years, it just makes my blood boil. Good luck to you all. "
