I have been told by my personal dr.s that I really cant work. I have osteo in all my joints, seizures, and COPD. The social security denied me twice first they said that I could still work because of my education and then the second time because they said that I could because I only feel pain at times. I am struggling extremely having 4 kids depend on me. Does anyone have ant suggestions. I do have a lawyer but shes saying it could be a year.

" why did your lawyer say it be a year for? was it to get a court date? they drag, it took allmost a year for me. but it never made it to court, the judge granted it, do you have a good lawyer? dose she think you have a good case? most of the time disability will try every thing they can to refuse you your lawyer has to do all the fighting, but it takes time disability will realy try to keep you off. " I am currently dealing with the same problem. Worked in an exec role, fell and broke my back (already had some issues I was ignoring), found out that I have RA and another sort of arthritis in the spine along with osteo, lupus and 3 previous cancers. I was denied by SS and I am now waiting to go to court with an attorney at the end of this year. This year it will be four years I have been trying to win..... I don't understand why our country doesn't look at people who have worked their entire life and really need help. On a GOOD note, I have been told that the SS Admin always denies people until they get to court. Hopefully this will turn out well for you. Sending a hug... "

" I hope it won't be that long for you! I only just applied for social security so we shall see what my nightmare will or won't be. I asked the person who took my application what people are supposed to live on while SS decides their case and the response I got was they rely on family and friends. When I asked what if someone doesn't have those options and she shrugged and said nothing. Scary. See if you can qualify for vocational rehab - subject to your attorney's advice of course. One can still work on and collect disability but within certain parameters (I think now it is $900 a month income but not sure). Voc Rehab can do work evaluations and see what if any kind of work you would be able to do with your challenges. It would seem to me that if they were unable to find a work option with your conditions that it would strenghen your case with social security - wouldn't it? "

" wow a year?! That is crazy!! And with 4 kids! You need help now, not a year from now for it to start! The people who really need help get denied, while the ones who wont help themselves get catered to.
I so hope you are able to get help and soon! "

" I know how you feel BIG TIME. When I frist went to the social security office to apply and in a wheelchair got denied. It took a year for mind to kick in. Have your Doctor have it in your file that you are disable? We had to go through a lot of red tape. That is not right because the ones who realy need it can't hardly get it and the ones that don't need it seems they can walk in on their frist try and get it of the bat. It shouldn't have anything to do with your education or any thing else. The bottum line is if you can't work YOU CAN'T WORK!!! Maybe you can write your congress and talk to them (we did) and let them look into it.
Lots of hugs and good luck "

" I would just stay the course, for the Social Security. It may take time, but it will pay off in the long run. I am sorry to hear you are having so many problems. "

" Gee, sounds like my life. I am already into my second appeal! :{ I have about 8 to 10 health issues and take 14 different meds from 1 to 3 times a day. My dr. even filled out a form stating I need to lay down once a day.
You are soooo not alone. They are saying you have the education, in my case I am too young (41). But I will add you to my healing candle and keep it burning bright. :} "
