Has anyone used Flecenaide? I think that's how it's spelled. My doctor has prescribed it for episodic atrial fibrulation. I used amodorone for a few months and it did not help. I'd like to know if anyone has used this and what side effects you experienced, how well or badly it worked for you.

Thank you!

" I was put on it for my a-fib and a-flutter. It did work for alittle while, but then my a-fib broke thru. I did not have any complaints or side effects using this drug, except for the fact that my a-fib broke thru. "

" Basically, no. My a-fib and a-flutter eventually broke thru all the meds I was on. I guess the meds that kept me in NSR the longest was a combo of Sotalol and Cardizem. I eventually had an ablation done in January 08 at Univ of Penn. I am very happy and grateful to say I have been in NSR ever since. The ablation gave me my life back. It was the best decision I could have made for myself. I would not hesitate to have another one if the need should arise.
Good Luck on your quest for NSR. I wish you well, and I wish you enough... "

" Thanks for the information. I've not heard of ablation before. My doctor has not mentioned that. I had a cardioversion treatment, which is they shocked my heart back into rhythm. It worked for about three months and then ... What does NSR mean? "

" I have been taking Flecainde for fourteen years at 150 mg twice a day for V-Tach. It has worked better than any other med so far but it may make you tired. I also get problems with my vision blurr comes and goes. "

" NSR means "normal sinus rhythm". Meaning a normal regular heart beat.

Kevk- I too also suffered from occasional sustained v-tach along with the fib and the flutter. Flec did not help me at all. Isn't it amazing how one drug can help on person and not do anything for another. When my v-tach started showing up daily, that is when I had the ablation. "

" Thanks Kev. You said it works well, so I assume that means your heart stays in rhythm but there are some annoying side effects. Well, that gives me some hope that it may work for me. Being out of rhythm is very annoying. I had to cancel a trip a couple weeks ago when it went out the morning I was to fly out. I do hate blurry vision though! I'm getting a little used to being tired (when a-fib kicks in) and I keep a lot of books and movies handy. "

" jbtwin, yes it is amazing to me how it does and doesn't work on different people. My daughter is a nurse and she doesn't see that as unusual at all. She sees it all the time she says. Bodies are different and our reactions to things are just different. One size does not fit all with meds, unfortunately. "

" Yes I am in normal sinus rhythym for most of the time. I still get short bursts of V-tach and a variety of different arrhthmias , But they only last 15-20 seconds and they are over.

Everyone is different and respond to meds differently. Be careful with anti arrhthmic meds, Some can cause arrhthmias also. "
