Does anyone here take this med? I take it for my heart flutering, but isn't it used for blood pressure only? Or do all beta blockers have use for different things?

Am I doing any damage to my heart by taking Inderal for fluttering due to anxiety and PTSD?

" Thank you. I took my first one tonight, so far so good, I take Seroquel and Klonopin with it for sleep-- all for sleep.
When my life settles down, maybe I won't need so many meds:(
Thanks again! "

" Kristen70, Hi, I took attenalol -it is a more cardiac specific beta-blocker -I took it afte I had a pulmonary embolism(blood clot in the lung) and my heart rate was very high. It does lower blood pressure too, but attenalol isn't as bad as inderal at that because it affects the heart mostly. I have a cardiac arrythmia that I now take a different heart medication to control. It will get the job done. I also take a low dose of seraquil, and klonopin for sleep as well -I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome and the antidepressant I take -Effexor- causes me not to get good sleep. I just started taking the seraquil about 3 weeks ago -I think it works very well -as I only wake up 1 time at nigth now to go to the bathroom. I have to remember to take it at around 9pm so it is worn off by the time I get up for work at 7am -otherwise my husband says I sound like I am drunk and keep falling asleep on the phone. I can't be like that at work -I am a pediatric nurse, and I have to be in a good state of mind. Klonopin I have taken off and on for several years -I guess it is addicting -I know when I go off it, if I just quit, I will have withdrawal symptoms, so I decrease the dose slowly, then go off. Hope that helps!! Blessings, Teri "

" Thanks--this morning the Atenolol made me nauseas, so I am wondering if I should go back on Proranolol? Just something for me to ponder...

Does Inderal affect MORE than the heart???

It sounded like you meant it did?

Thank yu so much for responding. "

" Hi,
I dont think I would want to be changing again yet, give the Antenolol more time,if its a side affect it will probably go after a few days. As far as I know its a very safe drug to take long term, I know lots of people who have been on it for years with no bad effects. "

" Kristen70, Do you take it once or twice a day? -if only once, try taking it before you go to bed instead of in the morning- that helped when I was getting too dizzy from it. "

" I take it to and sometimes I take 12.5 or break that in half. I think the only side effect for me is the depression. I take it in the morning when I start to get out and about around 11:00 am it does make me drowsey and tired but I can manage. Im going to try to take it at another time so I can not be so drained. "
