Last night at work every time I would get up and walk even slowly and a short distance I kept getting short of breathe and my heart was racing. I think a lot of this is from the chiari acting up and that is why I have the arrhytmia and the pacemaker. The feeling was not the pacer going off because my pulse was 120's. I can't call the dr for every little thing but I had been fine and not having any palpitations or SOB. I did not want to go to the ER becasue I did not think they would do anything. I keep having this feeling of impending doom. Anyone else feel this way or have any advice?

" Whenever I have had ANY feelings of flutter or tightening around my chest, I have sat myself down, tried to do deep breathing to calm myself.
If the feelings do not subside in an hour, I get myself to the ER.
As of late, I have been able to "control" the flutters myself and avoided a trip.
I would suggest that you contact your doctor and tell him or her of the incident and see if he has any suggestion. "

" HI
I agree with cjosie ! When the symptoms start, try to relax and breath. If the symptoms do not get better within an hour or if they get worse get to the ER or call your doctor.
You need to let your doctor know that this is happening to you. "

" I talked to the cardiac rehab nurse and I told her that i feel it may be from my Chiari which is what they feel may have started or be the reason for my heart problems. The neurosurgeon is going to do a lumbar puncture and hopefully that will solve all my problems. "

" I had the LP today and feel a lot better, I hope the feeling lasts. My pulse is 84 so I am hopeful that draining the fluid helps everything. "

" You could have PVC's and not feel them. This will cause lightheadness and mild feeling of shortness of breath. A PVC is a premature ventrical contraction. meaning the ventrical beat twice in a row. sec time did not allow it to fill with as much blood so when it pumps again little blood carries little oxygen, little oxygen make brain feel light headed thus requiring more oxygen thus the feeling short of breath. now heart tries to compensate by beating more rapidly. are you taking an anti arrythmic med? sounds like you have two different problem. If you have a chiari malformation the can cause slower blood flow to the brain during PVC's "
