I have known about my Chiari for a long time and I have taken medication for the headaches on a daily bases and pills at night to sleep when I wasn't working and stronger pills when the headaches were so bad I couldn't get up off the floor. I am a female firefighter and captain of a shift of all men and I don't like to let the guys see me show any weakness but its now very difficult to hide. My hands and feet go numb I am stiff in the neck and shoulders I can't see everything is blurry. I can't look up hardly at all or I will be pass out. When i look up it slows my heart rate down to less than 30 beats a minute. So my neuroligist is sending me to a neuro surgeon. Well she is making me go I have put this off for as long as I can I guess. I am a big chicken. My biggest fear is that I won't be able to go back to my job. What do you all think? I am 51 yrs old even though I only have to fire fight for a couple more years to collect my full pension then I can push pencils in the office. I just need to do it a bit longer do you think I will be able too. I'm worried

" My hubby is a firefighter, so was my Dad. And he is very familiar with what I go through. I could ask him for input if you'd like. "
