I am new here and not really seeing much activity on support system or much communications between others who have similar situations? or do they ? I am looking a friend or two to share stories, support, ideas for therapys for mom that may be accelerating, just all around a place to come when down and need lifting up. Does anyone here have time to chat or share stories or perhaps even words of encouragement on how to enjoy Life even when a loved one suffers from aphasia from aftermath of brain injury ?? I will give it some time. If no real support, I will look at other sites to compare. I came for support and can also return to others as well!! Thank you, S

Dear recovery 4 mom, I hope you haven't given up on this site yet as I may be able to help you to communicate with your mom and also see her point of view. I am 40 yrs old and have aphasia as well as other symptoms and have not been diagnosed as of yet. I am in speech therapy 2 days a week which is helpful. From my experience I can tell you that when she is searching for a word etc. feel free to help as it is exhausting. Depending upon how severe her aphasia is supply her with as many tools as possible to get her thoughts out. It is very scary to be in there and not feel understood. All I can tell u is that when my aphasia is at its worst I get even more chatty which I believe is a search for MY voice. I am in here and sometime wonder if anyone sees me. I pray you will support her, love her, reassure her and listen closely as she has so much to tell you. My heart goes out to you and your family in your search for support. I know it is difficult to find out there. I hope you are still there.
