I speak only from keyboard and use TTY. No one wants to take TTY calls.
Last night even a crisis line hung up twice on relay operators. They are supposed to have a TTY line, but I was told they don't keep it operational. "Oh well, may we help you." It was bad. Still is. What happened to communication? And the problem I'm having is with communication with people in real life. They manipulate it and no matter what I say they say it back wrong or just assume they know what I'm talking about. This is so so so bad. Makes even more problems. Aphasia sucks. sounds like you are quite handy with the keyboard! have you discussed the possibility of an augmentative communication device with a speech therapist? there are devices that you can type text into (or text can be preprogrammed into... or both) that have speech output. so if you had that type of device, you would have the benefit of being able to type your message, but you could use a regular phone since there would be speech output. just my 2 cents? hang in there!
(also...if you only have trouble speaking, and no difficulty writing, you may have apraxia rather than aphasia... just something you may want to ask a speech therapist about... since the treatment for each can be very different)

i know its been quite some time since this post... but i recently found a program that has a free 30 day trial that might be helpful (i think its $100 to purchase). its text to speech software that can be downloaded on any computer. you can change some of the settings... including the setting which makes the computer "say" whatever you type (word, sentence, paragraph, whatever) automatically everytime you hit the return key. just wanted to pass on the info. heres the link for the free download. this program with decent speakers and a speakerphone could make phone use a bit easier!!! :) hope all is well!
