" I have suffered from this since June 2007. I have offically been labeled - functional aphonia. I have seen several ENT, had the laryngoscope, stroboscrop, endoscopy, etc. All test showed normal pathology. I do have acid reflux which effects the vocal cords somewhat. I currently see a speech therapist who specializes in voice disorders. She has helped me become more steady with my voice, still whisper but more consisent not so many highs and lows with it. She has sent me to see a psychiatrist, not much help yet. She insists it will just take time. All I can say is keep hope, eventually something will start to click. It is good to know someone else has this though, not just me. It is very discerning thinking you are the only one with this problem. "
