i take effexor regular and buspiorn. (sp) it is like ativan. Dr said that this helps the effexor work

I took Effexor XR and Xanax which is similar to Ativan if I am not mistaken. I had no problems but I was on the Xanax first. The biggest problem I had was getting off the Effexor XR. That was sometime to deal with.

The only thing I know are my docs(both psychiatrist and the general doc) say ativan is a bit addictive and loses it's effectiveness over time.

All benzos are addictive which is why alot of doctors do not want to perscribe them. I have been on Xanax for 10 years 3x a day my body is locked on it. I feel like a junkie some days.

Yup, I have you'll be fine maybe a little tired. It can be addictive but I only use it prn.

Ativan is part of a family of drugs called benzodiazepines, which also includes klonopin and valium to name a couple. These sedatives are very often prescribed with antidepressants to provide additional help with anxiety. Don't worry - its very common.

i take effexor and was given ativan when i was in the hospital. i dont take ativan now because i am a recovering alcoholic and it is addictive. i had no problems when i did take them together though.
