My trigger for anxiety!! Little scared here.

I am not one to get anxiety triggered from medical issues, but more along the lines of finances. (I guess we all have particular triggers)but frankly I have a situation that is really worrying me so I woke up really uneasy. Then I started to freak out a bit. I hate that, when you wake up, in the night, and you are on edge, feeling hot, kind of clammy sweaty. And you are not sure exactly why.

I know some of my issue is I am having problems with my teeth, due to having had radiation treatment, years ago on my mouth area. Radiation destoys every living thing, and it really is nasty to teeth. You would think years later this would be resolved but in fact, I found out that because it almost totally destroyed my salvia glands I do not have the protective spit to keep away bacteria. So now I have an abcessed tooth. I have gotten medical attention but the oral surgeon is suggesting I need to go into a hyperbariatric chamber, (this is the one they put scuba divers in for pressure treatment), for 30 different treatments. OK uh,has anyone seen these chambers? Most of them, especially in smaller cities, are small. During cancer treatment I developed claustophobia. These things do not mix in my eyes. I figured ok then they can sedate me.
Thats just the way it is but then once I get past that, there is the factor that these sessions are extremely expensive!! So I will be left with this huge bill! There is my biggest trigger for anxiety. What the heck am I going to do to pay that bill!!! Frankly it is overwhelming to me. The whole thing is.

To begin with, my parents each died of cancer or the treatment of it, then an year later I got cancer. It was an oral cancer and I do NOT chew or smoke. This was several years ago and I feel I paid my dues. I beat that nasty old cancer and now it should be drs saying good for you!!! Instead of , well now you have a new issue because of the treatment you got years ago. Its like raising all of that up all over again, and I had put it to rest totally.

I feel so much frustration and anxiety over the whole issue. And I am angry! Im not sure how to cope with the anxiety, of the money issue, and I try to just sweep it under the rug but I need to address it so I can take care of the business at hand. What is more frustrating that when I talk to the dentist or oral surgeon, I end up sounding like a crying blithering idiot because I am so wound up I cannot think straight. Before the anxiety I could calmly address doctors and talk in a competant manner. I hate that this is what I am reduced to.

One good thing, is I do communicate to them I have anxiety. They do hear me and are understanding but the oral surgeon didnt get it the first visit and it gave me a huge doomsday speech that brought me to my knees. Next visit he was apologetic and much better in his communication and I worked on listening more. Suggestions on this would be helpful.

" Your in a very difficult position much like I'm sure most of us are in anymore with the way the world is turning. I can't get the proper help I've needed due to finances and it really sucks. Have you gotten other opinions, maybe something else is out there that doesn't cost as much. Plus, maybe you could check into more along the lines of homeopathics or home remedies to help with your oral care, rather than relying solely on the doctors. I'm a big skeptic when it comes to our medical industry. I hate them! But you have to do what you have to regardless of the expense.

I guess, try not to stress over the finances as much as possible. Their not whats important right now, you are. See if you can't get help too, sometimes these hospitals have exceptions if you just fill out a simple form, maybe they can waive some of the expenses. Seek help where ever you can. Don't give up and hang in there. Practice any anxiety techniques you have learned and use them while it's high. God bless you! "

" I have this week, in fact, talked to my closest hospital to see what could be done as far as helping me when these sessions get done and there is some help. I was told by the oral surgeon, well if you were on medicaid you would be totally covered! well lol Im not and why should I be draining that. not only that why even bring it up?

I agree with you on your skeptism. I tried to look up studies to validate this treatment. Doesn't it always appear there is like a trend for the time, where something pops up and every dr seems to recommend it, then it dies down? I kind of feel like I am stuck in something like that, but i have no proof.

I did check out my rad levels, as that was a factor. He had stated if I had gotten 6000 rads or more I would definitely require this treatment, ok I had 5940, and then he said while it is within a 1% of that so it should still be done. I'm just plain frustated with the whole thing.
Thankn you msjan for answering me. You gave me a bit of food for thought plus made me know that there are others out there as skeptical and frustated as I am. I had not thought of homeopathics..
I do know, when the radiation comes into your system it reduces your blood vessels, therefore the antibodies have a difficult time getting to the site of infection. His exact words were, this is so positive hehehe not, was if you do not do this treatment, you will get infection in your jaw and I will have to remove it and give you a trach. now you see why I was so overwhelmed lol "
