This is a book by Daniel Siegle head of the mindful institue and co director of the UCLA Mindful awareness research center.
MRI imaging reveals ways that using mindfulness actually makes our wellbeing better. When we use mindfulness it engages the mid pre frontal cortex which regulates: body regulations, attuned communication, Emotional Balance, response flexibility, empathy, Insight, Fear Modulation, intuition,, morality. Naming our thoughts and emotions has shown to improve wellbeing. By saying an intrusive thought is guilt or fear or anger or judgement helps tamp down its effect. Two current therapies using mindfulness is ACT or acceptance therapy and DBT. Accepting our conditioning and staying present is the road to well being. This book gives concrete details that mindfulness can transform your life. It is not something magical but science. When you use mindfulness many more neural pathways are engaged and the plasticity of the brain lets the brain adjust and heal. Theres alot more in this book if anyone is interested. If you would like to stop suffering or want to improve, here is something that works. I have done it for 2 years and had tremendous results. You can do it at home and could cost you zero if you want. Can bring back happiness and joy to your life and your loved ones. Take ten minutes a day and devote for a month and see if it helps. You will feel good just trying. Good Luck
