Anxiety Support Group

From what I know, even if Abilify is good for anxiety, it's bad for depression. multiple people i have talked to, including my own experience, have come forward with how it made them feel like zombies. at first, nothing, just sleepiness, fatigue, maybe a little jumbled in thoughts...but then the anxiety starts slipping, only to find out you dont often "feel" things, like normal emotions, or the willpower to do things. then it turns almost fearful, because you're depressed and numb.


you may have a different experience. a different body.
but make sure you pay close attention, and talk to your doctor if ANY of those symptoms occur.

I was on a low dose (can't remember what it was) for three weeks in place of Risperdal. I was starting to go downhill and the last day I was on it and went back on Risperdal, I had suicidal thoughts. I don't know what to blame. It won't be the same for everyone.

i'm on 5 mgs of abilify, I also take ativan and congentin. I like the abilify, it really helps my anxiety, depression, and bipolar. I was having some side effects (restlessness) but now that i'm on the congentin that's gone. I really like the abilify, it's been a tremendous help to me. I know it's different for all ppl, but my aunt takes 5mgs of abilify with lexapro and trazadone, and it helps her alot also. Hope this helped some.

Just from personal experience, it don't turn us into zombies. Everyone is different though.

Thanks Poohm, I had asked you of it in another post. I thought abilify was to help boost the effects of other medications. I have wondered if it would help with depression. But lol I doubt it comes in generic form yet.

I do well on my current meds but wonder if a boost for teh antidepressent might help more. I am still not where I would like to be in that dept.

It works wonderfully for lots of people along with another antideppressant.
Everyone reacts differently.
I was on 10mg of ambilify along with 2 100mg tablets of tradazone, for me personally it did help but i had side effects, i could not sleep at all and i could not sit still for a second.
Like i said everyone is different and it works wonderfully for many.

i was taking 20mg for a long time for bipolar .. it worked so well for so long and then i started to get tardive dyskenisia (sp) so i stopped taking it but it wont do that to everybody ... it never made me a zombie .. i was very energetic for the most part .. i miss it really

I'm not sure I would recommend Abilify, a medication that causes extreme anxiety in up to 20% of people who take it, for treating anxiety.
