Since Jan I have undergone a # of tests for my heart (ecg, stress, echo) just recently wore a holter monitor (not sure on results yet) and currently wearing an event loop recorder for 2 weeks. OCcassionally for no apparent reason my heart races, as fast 100beat per min..nornally its mid-70s. My dr said its normal..however this week I have been experiencing this fullness/heaviness sensation in my chest and my rate increases...I cannot seem to get it back down..I try drinking herbal tea, breathing, laying down, getting a massage but it does not work...anyone else experience this>? My appt with the cardiologist is at the end of the mth? Could this be anxiety or could there be something wrong with my heart. FYI, my blood pressure is low, typically 100/60.

" It's just anxiety - try very deep breathing exercises... it works for me, and if everything is normal, just relax. If you keep getting them, call the doctor. "

" lbav sounds like anxiety. my heart rate has gone as high as 124. the deep breathing and even bearing down like you do when you have to go to the bathroom helps. not sure if you drink things with caffiene but that also will increase your heart rate as well as chocalate and cigarettes. i dont know if you do any of this but since i have gave up the caffiene (except for 1 cup of coffee in the morning my heart rate has came down to mid 80's. hope this helps some. try to relax as much as possible. " I have been suffereing with this sort of thing for years now and after many test over the years it's just anxiety. 100 for a heartbeat is not so high after all. The normal range is between 60 to 90 beat per minute. One time I had my heartrate go up into the 180's!! It was brought on by my extreme anxiety and panic attacks.

I also get the heavy feeling in my chest so you are not alone on that one. It is terrible what anxiety can do to us. "

" I have had fast heartbeat off and on for 30 yrs. I've had all heart test known to man. my heart is fine. I also have skipped beats. I take Inderal for it. Also your thyroid can cause fast heart rate. I had hyperthyroidism and thats what started mine. that is to much thyroid. Besides bearing down or straining like a bowel movemement, drink down a glass of cool water. my doc. suggested both. I hope yhis helps. "
