Klonopin Withdrawl

Hi-

Someone please tell me when my klonopin withdrawl will end?! Last week I came off of 10mg of lexapro for 9 months, was sick for three day then it was over.

This week my doc had me take only my morning Klonopin (.5) for a week and then stop all together after 9 months. This has been horrible. One day it was so bad I couldn't walk or turn my head without closing my eyes, i have been hot/cold, sick to my stomach, hyper flight response, headaches that feel like someone hit me with a bat, mood swings, electrical shocks form my brain to my mouth and lips, and I feel like my feet are going to twist off.

My question is, how long with this last? What can I do to feel better?

" Usually you wean off of klonopin a lot slower....since you're coming off it so fast is why you're having horrible withdrawal symptoms. I had withdrawal symptoms for a month before I felt OK again. Good Luck! "

" I would definitely talk to your doctor about all of this. When I came off it, my doctor gave me valium to ease the withdrawal. Why are they taking you off of it ? If you are feeling that bad, call the doctor to tell them exactly how you are feeling. Hope you feel better - I think it normally takes 7-14 days for it to stop, but that is only my opinion - I am not a doc... "

" Not sure with klonopin. although when i came off of lexapro i had bad headaches and lots of anxiety for about two weeks. everyone is different so it probably depends on your body. i would call your doctor and tell him or her what is going on and it is to much for you to handle. you really need to have a doctor that is willing to listen to you. good luck "

" Thanks guys. i came of Lexapro the week before, I was sick for three days and itchy. I thought this one would be as easy. Anyway to help speed this up or to help me get through it? I don't want to go back on the drug and have to do this again. "

" everyone's experience with coming off K and other benzos is different, but don't be alarmed if the withdrawal goes on for a while. i was on K for three months last year and then my doc cut me off of it and so i did not have time to taper off of it slowly, which is what is recommended. i was on 1 mg twice a day for 3 months (i was taking it every day instead of only as needed because my anxiety was really bad at the time), and my withdrawal lasted about a month or so.

as frustrating as it can be, the best thing to do is just ride it out and give it time, as opposed to going back on it or any other benzo drug. i found a lot of helpful benzo-wise websites; if you want them, just send me a message, but the important thing to remember is that there is no general rule for withdrawal, so that you don't get freaked out by the stuff that is written by people going through severe withdrawal. good luck and hang tough! " my experience is: whenever I need to stop taking any meds for anxiety, depression, etc... my doctor has me take small doses for about two weeks and the doc gives me something else to help relieve my symptoms of gentle withdrawl. I have never had a problem when I did what the doctor told me.

When I have stopped cold turkey because I could not afford the med or forgot to call in a refill it is bad.

I think you should call your doctor immediately and ask for something to help your withdrawl symptoms.

Best of luck to you. "
