" Hello -

I'm glad you're feeling more positive...

I took diazepam (Valium) in my forties, in my pre-Klonopin days. I found that it did not completely lift my anxiety or panic attacks, but it definitely was calming, although it did not make me into a zombie or anything.

I know a lot of people do become addicted to this drug, but I never had a problem going off it. Although I was on a moderately-high daily dose, I could go off it virtually overnight, with no side effects, if I was feeling better. But I know that the physicians are being more cautious about Valium lately, because a lot of people do become addicted and have trouble coming off it.

I think it is helpful if you have moderate-level bouts of anxiety and you need some help getting through a time-limited period. I don't see it as a good choice for a long-term solution to intense anxiety.

Good luck, Janet "
