Anyone take this for anxiety? It is a Beta blocker. I would love to get feeback on this. It was just prescribed for me and, as usual, I must investigate first.

Thanks!

" I have had anxiety on and off for about 4 years now, along with panic attacks. I have done a LOT of research on all the drugs.
I have never heard of this one.

Usually what I do is do my research first, find out what is out there, and then go talk to my Dr about it.

Like you, I would be nervous to take something I have never heard of before.

Good luck with it though ! "

" I have never taken a beta blocker but just ensure that you check every medication you wish to take on top of it as beta blockers interact with many medications. You should also check to see if there are any foods you should avoid as certain food can also react with beta blockers. "

" Renee,

I am supposed to start out 1/2 of 25 mg and can go up to 1 tab twice a day. I have to have my heart rate and bp monitored 4 - 6 days from start. At this point I don't think I'm going to do it. It is dissapointing because I was looking for relief. I'm not to sure I want to mess with it. Why can't I find a med that isn't so scarey but will work?? I tried Ativan 1 mg during an "episode" and it didn't do anything. I don't have a racing heart I have panic and anxiety over nonsense things. I am on Wellbutrin and lamictal right now. I take 2 ativan everynight to sleep. I hate being the guinea pig for these off lable use meds. How does everyone else here control anxiety and panic? "

" DO NOT take this medication for anxiety. It actually triggers mine. This medication can cause underlying heart conditions in people who have nonexistent conditions. Again not recommended as an anti anxiety medication! "

" I have a stress induced heart condition, tako tsubo syndrome, and take metoprolol for that-it blocks the catacholomines so that they don't effect my heart when stressed. My speelling is probably all wrong, but hope you got the picture. Anyway, have taken it for over a year, but find I need other medication to manage stress/anxiety. I don't know if I'd take it to manage the anxiety. By the way, do any of you who are watching this discussion suffer from stress related heart conditions? "
