Lexapro side effects...

I started on Lexapro 10mg just a week ago today (once a day at dinner time) and I'm a big guy (6-1, 255) and I have noticed it has made me so lethargic and sleepy and just feeling all around crappy.

This is a small dose but it's kicking my butt I think. My anxiety is reduced yes (I take it on top of .5mg of Klonopin twice a day) but that's because I feel like a zombie.

Anyone else experience this? I was thinking about fighting through it for a few more weeks but feeling so sleepy and out of it is depressing. How long does this last?

" How long have you been on the lexapro? i was on it a few years ago, and i was opposite of you. I had so much energy and was super happy. Nothing really stressed me out. I dont think i ever was that happy all the time. However, the klonopin, that made me sleepy and tired and would knock me out. Did you start the klonopin when when you started lexapro? "

" Hi...I took Lexapro 10mg. for around 5 years. I remember when I very first went on it...I felt so tired...more tired than I'd ever felt in my life. Also in that first week or two....I just felt like a zombie....very spaced out...going through the motions without emotion. I remember feeling somewhat depressed in that first few weeks as well. Then...probably around the 4 week mark or so...I started snapping out of it and the symptoms started to SLOWLY lift. It did help my anxiety...no doubt about that....but the tiredness was almost scary...like I said..I had never been that tired before. So..yes I know exactly what you're going through...and it should let up here before to long. I think it just takes a few weeks for your body to get used to it....plus without so much anxiety...I probably needed and you probably are needing the extra rest. Good luck to you. =) "

" I had some reactions on 10 mg and it even landed me in the er... twice! I read on another forum to do this and so far so good. I am on 5 mg... I split it in half and took it for 5 days at night. I moved up Sunday night to 5 mg with absolutely no problems... try this, I think it will work for you... seen many success stories with this method. "

" Lanaleo15 I have been on Klonopin for years so it has to be the Lexapro. I wish the Lexapro made me feel happy all the time but it has just made me irritable and sleepy. I stopped it yesterday. "

" Erica, I had a real bad panic attack and it intensified the panic attack and anxiety... I was reading on another forum that it sometimes intensifies things to begin with and people ended up having to cut the dosage in half or quarters to begin with to build tolerance up for it so the side effects were unnoticable. " I take Celexa, which basically the same as Lexapro, but supposed to have more side effects. I tried Lexapro and it made me feel so sick and crappy. I could barely move, my knees hurt when I tried squatting and i felt like I had a bad case of the flu. I know that I can not take Lexapro even though I also felt better mentally on it. I also take Klonopin as needed. So maybe you should try Celexa. It seems to help me somewhat but not as much as Lexapro did but "oh well", I can't do anything about it. "
