" That seems very high. Mine is usually 107/60 or less and I have had anxiety for 10 years. I eat very healthy and take supplements that have helped me greatly. I would say you could have higher blood pressure if you have a racing heart at times. I get tachycardia now and then and my heart rate goes up to 140 beats per minute or more. I would say you need to get that check out by a professional. I would try to reduce it naturally and not drugs in my opinion as it makes it worse. When you took your blood pressure was your heart beating fast, were you at a resting spot or the doctors. I would take it again after resting and seeing where it is and followup with that. "

" Your blood pressure is EXTREMELY and concerningly high....run to the nearest doctor. I take blood pressure meds and walk about 15 minutes a day which has lowered my anxiety, relieves my extreme stress, and my blood pressure is now under control.
There are many contributing factors, anxiety being one contributing factor that DOES cause high blood pressure. Genetics may be another contributing factor....do your parents have HB? If family members have it, you are more likely to develope it yourself.
It takes a few months to make the right adjustments on the meds, but worth it as it can save your life.
I heard all kinds of bad things about meds, but my parents have been taking them for years. I now take the meds and know that I feel better. You have to decide what is right for you.
Take care and get you some help ((((((((Hugs)))))))) "

" Oh, and I restarted counseling to get to the bottom of my anxiety which has also been very helpful.
My anxiety and the heart attack/stroke symptoms went from a 20 to 1 with walking, BP meds, and counseling. "

" I have anxiety (panic disorder), high blood perssure, and a resting heart rate of 110. I take Propranolol in the morning and evening. If I don't take it, my blood pressure becomes extremely elevated.

I am 43, fit, and I eat well. Having said that, I have an autoimmune disease that can cause high blood pressure.

According to Mayo:
"Anxiety doesn't cause long-term high blood pressure (hypertension). But episodes of anxiety can cause dramatic, temporary spikes in your blood pressure."

I hope you get some solutions, Pete.

Gabrielle "

" Yes, both can be related.

Panic and anxiety can cause spikes in bp. It can be labeled white coat syndrome.

Most of us are not doctors and only mean well. If you want to find out for sure, consult a doctor or a nurse practitioner.

If you want to work on lowering your bp on your own, Google apple cider vinegar and bp benefits. I went on a routine of acv, water, and honey 2 weeks prior to tests. My bp was 120/70 and I am older then you. Also, make sure your arm is at least the height of your heart when testing.

Diet and lifestyle might be a part of it. However, at your age I wouldn't be overly concerned. "

" Yes
I have high BP and now have to take meds for it, as long as i take it and am calm it,s fine but it soon spikes very high once the anxiety comes, i ended up in the ER with it 214/120, once they gave me something to relax it came down again.
I go to the gym, walk my dogs and practice breathing techniques and see my physcologist every couple month,s, this collectivly does help.
My Bp now more under control, i think self help techniques go along way toward helping with anxiety.
Are you on meds and see a physcologist?, cognative behavioural therapy is very helpfull too like i say all this together with a posotive mind really helps. "

" (IANAD) but from what I understand it's normal for blood pressure to go high during a panic attack. Were you feeling anxious when you took it? If it's like that more consistently then, yes, definitely see a doctor about getting it under control. But also keep in mind that the spikes are adaptive (it's supposed to get higher under stress). Still a good idea to try to calm the spikes. "

" I think that is high even if you were having a full blown panic attack. I'm not sure how you took it bc there is a possibility it wasn't a correct reading. But I still would get it rechecked at the doctors office. "
