" I use 5htp with Ativan (was ok on multi drug checker). 5HTp during day, just 50 mg will do it. Keeps my head from being on the 'gerbil treadmil ".

Was given the ativan when I was in doc's office from not sleeping and I explained to her that had tried the ambien, etc and didn't work orhad nasty side effects (same with anti d's) So for right now, Ativan .25 at night and 5HTP during day and I'm almost human and sleeping 6 hours.
Magnesium I've taken for headaches ..don't know how it works on anxiety. "

" Is it totally safe to take 5-htp by itself, or do you have to combine it with something else? "

" Sweet! I've been thinking of taking that but have heard some warnings about taking it. How was your trip to the ER? Hope it went well. "

" A friend of mine who is big in homeopathic stuff mentioned magnesium being good for anxiety. Like, it helps balance the brain or something? I feel weird just taking certain vitamins to help keep me in check. I take B12 and it helps a little bit I think. I am suppose to see a Dr. sometime soon and I think I'm going to ask about the 5HTP and magnesium. I'm interested in finding out more about the natural stuff, but I still think I'll need something for my attacks. "

" I can only add that 5HTP has worked well for me. My counselor immediately discouned it (why do they prefer RX with so many side effects?). Anyway, worked better than anti d's or sleep meds for ME. ssince the anti d's either made me very ill or do stupid things, leave water running, house unlocked, keys in fridge, etc etc

Not sure if I can stay with this counselor who will discount something so easily. Yes, can take htp by itself. Look up the side effects, so far I have none. It was recommended by folks on the fibromyalgia board "
