" I took Lexapro a few years ago and it really helped with my anxiety. About a year and a half after starting it though, I started having break through anxiety so my doctor switched me to Wellbutrin. The only negative side affect I can remember was that it was increasingly more difficult to climax during intercourse. (Sorry that's a little graphic, I really didn't know how else to put it and I tried my best to use medical terminology so it didn't sound so raunchy).

Hope this helps! "

" I've taken Lexapro (US brand name) for 20 months or so and it has been great for my panic attacks -- results were obvious within 2 - 3 weeks. It hasn't helped w/mild depression though and I'm oftentimes rather blah and unmotivated). I did gain some weight... not sure if that's due to the Lex I am in the process of trying to wean off very slowly because I'd like to shed the pounds and see if I can address the anxiety with other tools now that my crisis period is over.

In my opinion, if you're having a rough time w/anxiety and panic, it's worth trying. Side effects vary by person. It's not a bad medication at all and you may find the relief you deserve. Good luck!! "

" hi. i am taking a natural (not that all natural things are safe) herb called sensoril. well, it's actually called ashwagandha but sensoril is the standardized and patented form of it. it is SO helpful with anxiety which is proven by all the scientific studies on it. it's extremely cheap too and there are no side effects. i got mine for $14 from iherb.com. you take 1 a day and there are 120 capsules so it's only $14 for 4 months worth!

here's one of the studies showing how well it works. sadly the tests were performed on rats.

and another proving how well it works in humans

there are other studies too. ashwagandha is used for tons of different uses (energy, better sleep, weight loss) but everyone noticed how calm they felt while on it so they developed sensoril which is a great balance of the leaves and roots.

i first started taking this when i was basically agoraphobic. i dug REALLY deep on google to find something natural that would help. i was terrified of meds and wouldn't take them so i did TONS of research to make sure i wouldn't have any side effects from the sensoril. after 3 weeks, i could tell a huge difference plus i was sleeping better and had more energy, less aches and pains etc. i was able to live in the moment and things bothered me way less or not at all. i took it for a year then i ran out b/c i was so broke but i just ordered more a few days ago so today is day 4. i recommend it so much b/c if you don't have to get on the antidepressant rollercoaster, then don't! they all stop working then you feel even more desperate and anxious than before. i take jarrow formula's from iherb.com
message me if you wanna and i'll tell you more about it. "

" but i have to say that people who have recovered don't recover b/c they found a magic pill. there is work you have to do to get better. cognitive behavior therapy is the best way. i'm gonna do cbt but the sensoril will make it so much easier. plus i plan on taking it forever anyway b/c there are so many other benefits like memory improvement, anti inflammatory effects etc. "

" hi i have been on escitlopram/ citalapram same drug one man made one manufactured but exact same basis, found both very good, only thing i would say is at high doses stopped all emotions so no anxiety and sadnesss and worrying but no happiness or laughter or contentment was just numb, (which is what i needed at some points) been 4 years. i spent alot of time fighting the anxiety which causes my depression but once you realise that its a disorder and accept it it becomes easier i would say take the meds but also see a councellor, i spent time going up and down doses and im currently not on them but has taken me ayear to come off because i wanted another baby. im struggling at mo but i am 5 months pregnant and have torn the cartlidge in my hip which needs surgery which i cant have bacause im pregnant, (im in mega pain )im going for counselling again but knopw that as soon as baby comes will end up back on tablets i accept that i dont cope well with change and want things to fit my plan when they dont i panic. sorry that was my waffly life and prob didnt help. hope kind of did x "

" hey ive been on cipra for 2 1/2 months now and its working great. The 'come up' was really hard for me. Took me about 3 weeks to shake off the drugged feeling and now i have no side effects at all. I'm on a relatively low dose of 15mg. My only complaint is the price! I'm on medical leave from work and my boss has denied me my benefits because he says that he isn't getting anything out of me being sick. Bastard. Anyway $60 a month is alot for some tiny little pills lol, I feel ripped off every time i get em. However, from a different perspective: $60 is a small price to pay for getting your life back. "

" I took lexapro for depression 6 1/2 years ago after my mother died. It worked well and I stopped it after a year and a half. I did not have anxiety then. I was fine for the next several years until I developed this anxiety and slipped back into depression as well. After about a year on the lexapro I did notice that I was "dulled" in my emotions and less creative. that is why I stopped--plus I wasn't depressed anymore! I did gain 12 lbs. although some people lose weight on it. It is supposed to be weight neutral. I lost it after I stopped taking it. I am now taking St. John's wort but it isn't doing too much after 5 weeks. I am giving it a couple more weeks and then considering going back on lexapro. I do think the lexapro helped calm me at the time also. Good luck and please let us know what happens. "
