Coping with anxiety

How does everyone cope with anxiety? I have anxiety brought on by my medication or having bipolar disorder. My pdoc and I are not sure what the cause is. But I start to have anxiety attacks when I get severely stressed, mainly dealing with school. I am on Klonopin 0.5mg as needed twice a day. But sometimes that doesn't work and I am left in agony of an anxiety attack. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get through the anxiety attack if my medication doesn't work? Thanks for your help.

" I have racing thoughts that cause my anxiety attacks..what helps me is deep breathing as well as saying out loud "these thoughts aren't real" "these thoughts cant hurt me" but breathing is a huge thing for me! Slow breaths....take a deep breath and release it as slow as you can....Main thing is your mind. Irrational thoughts tend to start anxiety attacks..funny thing is...I feel the anxiety before I realize what gave me the anxiety...Just remind yourself to look at steps in assignments rather than the final product. When you aren't looking at the BIG picture of what you have to do it doesn't seem so stressful...does that make sense? "

" Sometimes, panic attacks can't be avoided. if a change in doseage or medication doesn't help, try these outlets/solutions. i hope one helps.

-journal causes and effects of your anxiety
-journal your blessings in life
-listen to music you like, or classical or instrumental
-meditate or do yoga throughout the day, before sleep
-talk to people
-read books
-excercise
-drink tea

*take breaks from homework while doing it. do rewarding activities. Tv, reading, phone calls.
*if it's homework/tests that stresses you, find ways to study and stay organized. keep a planner. Or get a tutor or talk to a teacher.
*Pray?
*remember, school is a temporary stage in life. peer pressure seems to mean like a lot now, but it wont forever.

I hope these help... Im sorry for your stress. I have a lot of panic attacks, including for school. "
