I am constantly trying to get a deep breath and feel like I am going to die. The doctor put me on 1 mg of klonopin twice a day and it seemed to work for about eight weeks and now I am getting back to where I was before, fighting for air. I am doing well at night now and sleeping better, guess that is good, but the daytime is hell again and wonder if anyone has techniques to make this stop. I am so scared and feel all alone. Does anxiety do this to anyone else? Please help me

" Anxiety has us thinking about every illness known to man. I had to actually donate my medical dictionaries because when I looked up a symptom of what anxiety was causing...hell, I had a brain tumor, several heart attacks. multiple sclerosis, etc...Actually, I had NONE of the above. But anxiety can create "mock" symptoms that get us all worked up, breathing faster, deeper...causing HYPERVENTILATION. Believe it or not, you CAN breathe in too much oxygen. And that in itself causes dizziness, disorientation, that floaty feeling, paranoia, and difficuly catching your breathe. EMail me anytime, I used to be a pro at concentrating on my breathing...like I would FORGET how! ha "

" Some times the Drugs you take you bcome tolerant to and need more, this is why theropy is better. Yes drugs can help, short term but as you get used to them your body will want more to keep you in a good place. I would tlak to my Doctor about a antideprsant that works both on anxiety and depression. It is easier to get off of but does take a while to get on. "Don't believe what you think", is my favorite quote because it is only your body doing what it is suppose to do out of content. If you were scared ,really, this would be normal, it's that it comes when your not that scares you, your fine, your mind is fine, you will be fine, we all have had it, have it and are doing out best to learn what is is not! You will not stop breathing . I promise, it just feels that way!
Happy Halllowen! "

" P.s. Learn to breathe to your belly not your chest and count to four up and 4 down and wait four to start up again, this will relax you, you are hyperventalting! (spelled wrong I am sure) :-) "
