Advice:
Pulse high in the shower and finger tremor

Sometimes I notice my pulse starts to race when i'm in the shower. Does this happen to anyone else? I've had a very rough week this week with anxiety. Monday and Tuesday I thought I was going to die because my heart rate was very low (around 60 which is very slow for me). I've been on Metoprolol for about 6 weeks now, but my HR is normally around 80. I called my Dr. and she said it's still in the normal range and not to worry about it. I can't sleep though because i'm affraid i'm going to die. Then today when I was taking a shower my heart started to race (probably 120 or so). I have noticed this in the past, has this ever happened to anyone? Is it normal? Then later today I noticed my ring finger on my left hand has like a tremor when I hold my hand out and relax it. Do you think I have a brain tumor or something? Any advice would be appreciated. I just started Celexa on Sunday and I was hoping it would be my miracle cure. Now i'm thinking it might be making me worse.

" You're fine I promise.. You sound like you're taking your pulse too much so it stays on your mind. By obsessing over it, the loop of thoughts continue and get worse. I would try to not take your pulse for a week and see what happens. I was the same way.. After a bad panic attack one night I started to notice my heart would beat faster at night before bedtime. I was worried about my heart rate and wondered if I kept having these nightly racing heart episodes my heart might get damaged. I started obsessing over my blood pressure and almost bought a blood pressure monitor. Well.. I finally decided to stop worrying about it.. I stopped thinking about it all the time and it finally went away. The mind is a powerful thing! You can give yourself these symptoms by believing these silly thoughts we have. I know its tough but you can do it. "

" Could be side effects from the meds. I am sure if you read the side effcts what your feeling is probally listed. "

" I constantly obsess about my bp and heart. That is part of anxiety. And if we say "ut oh, what was that.." we start the fight or flight response and it just happens.
Now..saying that..I looked up Meoprolol and it looks like that is something given to people that have high bp or a fast beating heart ( I think). Is that why you are on that medicine? I can't say anything about the pulse, heart rate with that med. Not sure how that reacts with the body. My suggestion is to talk to your doctor as you have done. It will be alright. Anxiety just makes it seem much worse. I know. "

" That used to happen to me too! I wasn't on any meds thought...but I would always get really super hot and either have to like rush out of the bathroom to get cool....or puke. I'm not sure why, but it only happened for a few months. I think it happens when I'm upset or something. "

" I get these symptoms in the bath, my Doctor told me it was due to the heat. Do you have hot showers? Is it worth reducing the temperature a bit to see if that makes any difference? Try not to focus on it too much though. You're going to be ok:) "

" Hi AnxietyInAz,
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with your situation about your HR in the shower but I'll share this with you just in case you can relate. When I go to take a shower I start getting anxious before I get in the shower. This may sound crazy,,but at times I do feel crazy,lol...I feel that I'm going to die when I'm alone taking a shower. I've got to the point to where I Have to leave the bathroom door open,,because of the fear...When I'm in the shower I Know my pulse rate has to go up because the whole time the waters running,,I'm in a panic mode. I've tried to come up with what causes this and what I've arrived at is that, maybe because I'm alone in the shower and the waters running,,I'm afraid that if, lets say I start to have a heart attack,,,no one will be able to hear me,,since the waters making noise......I take a shower daily, but its becoming a chore for me,,due to the fact that it raises my anxiety. I dont know if you feel the panic as I do when taking the shower but if so,,that may be whats causing the HR to increase........ "
