I would check into cutting edge counciling using sort of cognitive behavior theory but combing it with mindfulness. They are ACT therapy as in acceptance and committment and Dialectic behavior therapy. These two therapies teach you how to observe your thoughts and release the emotion behind it. They have had excellent success and have replaced other therapies with a more specific approach. Good Luck

CBT is a FORM of counseling...it all depends on the therapists theoretical background..some prefer psychodynamic, or CBT, or Motivational Interviewing, among many others.....CBT is great if you have faulty belief patterns...which cause your distress. Which we all do..we all have our irrational thoughts that keep us on a path of pain and suffering.

I have a masters in mental health counseling...we study ALL the theories and decide for ourselves HOW we want to practice..or integrate theories.
