I originally didn't want to use Nitro as I felt like it was giving in to this disease. How ever, I have learnt to use it only as I trully need it. I don't like the almost instant headache, but it doesn't last long. I rarely have to use my nitro spray and for that I am thank ful. However, I always carry it because I know it will make the difference between the onset of an attack and me keeping aid. I do a lot of exercise away from the house (country roads walking, biking) and I need to know that the nitro will keep me hopefully upright until ems arrives (always carry the cell phone now). So I would say that Nitro really does have an important role to play in my life now. Its not the best solution, but I can't go back to not having a heart problem. Hope this is of assistance to you Doug and any one else out there on Daily Strength.

Nitro patches keeps a constant flow of this drug going through the system but it always gives me a slight head ache. Having to wear them every day is just another thing to have to keep up with. and half the time I forget.

Ah yes, nitro! I was put on it, as a spray to be used when an attack starts, as the other drugs were giving me many unwanted side effects, some worse than the angina itself in truth.
As my grandmother had taken it for as long as I can remember (sub lingual) and my mother had the same but then went to the spray I had no "fear" or concern about being given it. Luckily I don't have to use it very often but when I do it really does work provided you use it as directed and stay resting (seated) until the attack goes. My mother was not doing that and ended up with trips to the ER with very low BP. She has now learnt her lesson, we hope:>() If your doc does want you to use nitro I would try the sub-lingual or the spray as the tablets and patches can cause headaches (I got them) which can be quite debilitating. Hope that you can sort it out and nice to find you here!

I think Nitro is going to be a persons safest way to survive if anything should go wrong .I don't use it often (as little as possible) and don't like the breif headache it gives but I think I would feel unsafe without it . There has been times where I knew I needed something but only once have I had to take more than one shot under the tongue and even then it was only twice and not the recommended 3 in 5 min intervals before calling 911 . btw has anyone noticed that ambulance bills have become so high that cremation is cheaper than a couple of ambulance rides to emerg ...sorry bad joke but its true lol . My wife told me that one I wonder if she meant she would have prefered the cost of cremating me yikes lol

My father didn't like to carry his Nito around with him, he relied on the 3 asprin method. He died from his Heart Attack. I am not going to make that judgement call. I've got too much to loose.
