Do I have Angina?

I was made redunadant in mid November as I'm working in the Finance industry. As the job situation is very tough at the moment I decided to spent more time in the gym and get off the excess weight I gained.
I changed my diet on the 1st of january and started going to the gym 4-5times a week and so far lost around 12 kg and am now down to a BMI of 24 (so not overweight anymore). I started to have slight pain in my chest about 10 days ago but thought its from chest pressing weight, I also felt sth. similar to sore shoulders and prickling in my back every now and then. I just thought I was training a little bit too hard and stopped going to the gym for two days but the pain didn't really go away. So I went to a Doctor (I'm living in the UK at the moment) my blood pressure was taken by his assitant (110/70 as always which I think is quite good for a man) and after listening to me for 5 Minutes he told me to buy paracetamol and come back again in 7 days if it doesn't go away till then. So I went back to the gym the next day and to be frank the pain in the chest was gone when I was doing cardio and like always after the gym I felt better. But the pain in the chest came back, it comes and goes, it's not a very fierce pain its more like somewhere between a strong feeling of discomfort/soreness and unpleasant pressure. I feel it around the height of my armpits and my shoulders feel tend to feel sort of sore. I read through the Internet and now I'm severly worried that I might have Angina or even run the risk of having a heart attack soon which is extremly scary as I live alone. I'm flying to Germany (I'm German, that's the reason my English reads weired and is a bit broken) tomorrow to see my fiancee tomorrow and will see another doctor there on Monday as all those bad story about the National Health Service here in the UK made me loose the trust in the health system here. Please tell me if I'm most likely just overreacting or if you see a major urgent risk to my health. Further to that it would be nice to know if there are any signs my body might sent I should be aware of or emergency procedures i should learn? Thanks a lot Pie Posted on 03/20/09, 06:03 pm |

On ly your cardiologist can answer that question for sure, and I'm no cardiologist. However, I can give you some feedback. If your BP is 110/70 that's really encouraging and if the chest pain and soreness is equal on both sides it may have more to do with muscle soreness than the heart (which is more likely to cause pain on the left). But it would be foolish to just pass it off as being harmless without seeing your physician... just my two cents worth.
