Jennifer, You've got me confused, I your previous post, your asking for advise on continuing your education. Now your posting your reciving, disability. I dont understand. Have you decided its easier this wY, OR do you want a life. An anurysm is not a disability. I hope you will reconsider this situitation. there are enough people who need it, but dont give up on yourself. Its your life, you can live it or give up on it

You're right, oldboyscout; aneurysm isn't a disability, but, what it did to your body certainly is, I'm sure. . . It's good that you noted this, though. . .

Hi Jennifer
Yes, what happened to your dream of studying nursing, I hope my post did not discourage you, it certainly was not meant to. You can still collect some disability and go to school. there are programs out there that work together with you so you can collect and also get an education and the system will help with the cost, i can't remember the name of the specific program go to the SSD website and it should be there. Like i suggested in earlier post start slowly, maybe with the nursing assistant course, the system will probably help you with that financially, the course is not that long and it kind of gives you an idea of the cirruclium involved, good luck, you're too young to give up on your dreams :) Ruthie

Wait one sec everyone. I never said that I was giving up and I'm definitely not settling just because I got approved for disability. I was simply just letting people know who are maybe waiting to hear if they are going to get appropved or not. I really resent what you guys are saying. , Thank you AnnramS for congratulating me. My husband and I were going to lose everything including our house because I wasn't working and my neurosurgeon said it could be years before I make a full recovery. I also suffored a stroke on my left side because of the Aneurysm. I can no longer type the way I used to, I now have to use one finger. My short term memory is the worse. I have purchased a book about a woman who suffured a ruptured Aneurysm in 1988, the book is very interesting but I can't seem to concentrate or stay focused on anything for long periods at a time. I do believe that an Aneurysm is a disability. I don't know who got the idea that I was giving up. I actually told my doctor last week that I wanted to sign up for classes for thr 2010 August term. She told me that she doesn't think that I'm ready yet. She said if you can't finish that book that you bought 2 monhs ago, your concentration is not quite there yet. She said that it will get there but I can't rush it I can only take it oneday at a time( I hate that saying ) but it is true and I have learned to accept that everything that I was able to do before my Aneurysm might take a little longer to learn again. Baby Steps. I know I'm a miracle and that God does have something great planned for me. Balancing a check book again is something I just recently accomplished. I just wanted to let you all know that I haven't given up and I still want to be a nurse but whatever God has planned for me will happen when it is meant to happen.
Sincerly, Jennifer

Oh, poohbear, please rest assured that no one's judging you here. We're here to offer support and, hopefu;lly, some realistic advice. I feel for you; I, too, now only can type using one or two fingers- it's a pain in the tush and weakens my brain considerably when I do a lot of typing. Not sure about you, but, for me - scanning the keyboard for the right keys drains my brain considerably, as does lots of outside stimulation, like window shopping or even grocery shopping. I'm sure you know how it is. You're very welcome - I mean it- congratulations on getting approved for disability; I know what that help can do for your financial health. Believe me, I wait for that check anxiously every month. Sometimes I feel guilty because I am now able to walk and pretty much be independent, thanks to tons of therapy. Still, there are others out there worse off than me and you and all the rest of us disabled folks. Please remember though - never give up!

Forgot to mention, Jennifer, that, after my stroke/ruptured aneurysm, I finished my Masters degree in Business Administration, so - this is proof that if you never give up; you can achieve what you want to, despite your disability. I finished my MBA an I'm sure you can complete your nursing degree with lots of courage and determination. Good luck, sweetie!!!
