Recovering from brain aneurysm coling

I had a ruptured brain aneurysm and coiling was done a day later. This happened 3 weeks ago. I was lying on the couch and looked at my daughter and my brain aneurysm burst. I blacked out and threw up. I was extremely lucky that my husband was home at the time. I am a stay at home mom and this is the first year my kids are at school all day. I could have been laying there for hours. My daughter could have found me dead or incoherent. I'm lucky it was a Sunday.

I had a mickey mouse shaped aneurysm. I was lucky my doctor was able to do the coiling. The coiling worked.

I just need to know what to expect with my recovery. I am so weak and tired. I have numbness in my arms. I had 3 IV's put in and one pick line along with blood draws daily. I was in the hospital for 12 days. Am I bruised badly or is this numbness from the aneurysm. My tailbone hurts from the blood pooling in my back.

It is just hard to not feel like myself. I walk with a walker and I have no energy. It's just hard thinking that I could have died. My Dad died last year and I hate to think of my kids having to go through that grief so young.

" It's a miracle that you're okay. As easy as it is to think about what might have happened, don't. Know that you're still here for a reason and keep your eyes on the prize of recovery.

I don't have advice on recovery for coiling, since mine was clipped. But I wanted to say how happy I am that you pulled through it and you're on the road to wellness. "

" Hi Froggy, I suffered a Anurism June 27,2007, I spent a lot of time in rehab, all for the best..had to learn how to walk again, starting with a gate belt and walker.I was very weak at the onset, but with a lot of determnation and hard work, I finally made it to walking only with a cane. I had some other problems from the anurism...the tingeling you are having is probably called neuropithy, it is caused by the swelling during the bleeding..I had it in the feetand hands, but now is gone. my therapist had me use therabands and do a lot of exercise. I also at 67 have Emphysema, but am now better shape physically than I was before my anurism.

Keep me posted on your progress and stay healthy Dale White "

" Hi Brenda, this is the old Scout, and I can relate to what you and others are going through, I learned very early on how important it was tolisten to my Angel Nurses ant the support of my family. Wife Debbie, kids, Melissa Jon Sara and Scott. and all my Scouting Family of Troop 210. I wasent sure what the nethoed of curling was, so talked to my Doctor to find out. My anurysm ruptured after I had a severe headache for 3 days. I was at homewhen it happen, my son was home from college snd heard me hit the wall when I passed out and he called 911 and got me to the Hospital and very soon did surgery to clamp off the bleeder. I have almost completly recovered from the physical results from the Anurysm..Now comes the hard part it seems, the mental healing. I do a lot of walking and working with weights and at 67 with emphysema, thats not easy..But I want to be the exception and show my doctors and friends that It can be dne.for safety sake and health I do work with a personal training group...and oh yes, I got my flue shot today
Brenda you take carer and keep us all posted. You are in my Prayers. Dale White the old Scout "
