" getting it since our new pres has taken office has become very hard. You have to have worked for ten years prior to becoming incapassatated is what I was told. Speak with a lawyer. You CAN file online but be prepared for a no and having to go back two months afterwards mfor an apeal. Depending on what your ssi is you might want to take early retirement since they say now by 2010 there won't be ssi. good luck "

" i had a company help me get disability. I didn't have an aneurysm (I am on this list because my husband does), but I have other issues. They interviewed me to determine whether they thought I could get it or not and if they wanted to take me on. If I get it I pay them, if not no pay. With a lawyer, you pay them no matter what. There is a top amount that you will pay the company or a lawyer and it goes by the length of time it takes for your determination to come through. There are up sides to both. You can also do it by yourself on line and save money, but from what I have heard it is difficult to get that way. Just my own personal experience talking since I recently went through it. best of luck to you. "

" I had a rupture and clipping surgery in 2005 and 2 small aneurysms that are being monitered. I applied for social security disability on the advise of the human resource person at my nursing job that I could not return to. I was accepted 3 months after I applied and have not returned to a nursing job. I was told by other people that have applied that your job history plays a big part in getting accepted. I held a nursing job at a hospital for 12 years, then a nursing job for 14 years at an assisted living facility as a charge nurse. My muddled brain could not handle the stress, and multitasking that is needed to preform that job anymore. Good luck to you
