I have been on topamax for quite a while now. It is great for me. There is a generic out there which helps with the price of it. You do need to watch being in the sun. If you are going to be in the sun for quite sometime, I would suggest wearing a hat. This pill does mess with your metoblism. When I first started taking it, I would feel hunger pains at 11 pm. It could work either way for you. It could make you gain or lose weight depending on how you take the pill (morning or night).

Thanks for the info. Right now I am just taking 1 pill in the am. By the end of the month I will be up too takeing 2 in the am and 2 in the pm. I do get the generic and that is great.

I live on a lake so I am out in the sun all the time. It is part of our life. What does the sun do to you??

I have taken topamax in the past for a couple of years and stopped taking it while I was pregnant with my son I started taking it again just recently and the only problems I have ever had with it were dry mouth and loss of appetite. Occassional numbness in mytoes and fingers. I never had a problem with the sun from topamax. Good luck with your headaches.

Kelln, I dont have any information but do have an excellant repor with my Dr and will question him. You poor thing, I cant imagin going through another bout like I had with my Aneurysm. Thanks for the kind words. My doctor has now raised my dose to 3 in the am and 3 in the pm. It still does not touch my head pain? I am soooo tired of these headaches ....I guess they will never go away.

My spouse was on Topamax for quite a while. I wish she was well enough to write to you so i am relaying her message. It was a build up drug and took away her chronic pain. it caused her to be hungry so she gain a lot of weight. Later they changed it to Neurontin and she had same success without the hunger.

just as an afterthought, have you consulted your doctor again regarding these headaches and thehis medication? I say- go back to your doctor and let him/her know of your problem that still exists. In my case, I was given Neurontin which worked splendidly for me. I do wish you well and good luck.
