I had a rupture on 07/14/11. I actually had 4 aneursyms. They coiled 2 the first night and then did a craniotomy in October and the lasst angioplasty was done 11/30/11, I almost lost my kidneys due to so much dye I am doing much better. and believe me it is great to feel like a person again. But I am a nurse of 18 years and prior to that I worked in MD offices. I am scared to go back to that. I still have HA but usually a Tylenol will help. Every now and then it is a bad one that last for 2-3 days. I have SOB at time. My left leg was affected when I hemorraged,I can still use it but have a lot of trouble getting started after sitting. Still have short term memory issues. Do they give disability for this?. I do good right now but I am home with no stress and can do things at my pace. Any input would be appreciated.. I am 51 years old.

I am an annie survivor post two craniotomies..... I had to accept the fact that my life had changed drastically and finally went on disability. My job kept me on the go over a 5 state area and I loved it, but I did not return to my job after my annie. Yes, it was a major adjustment, but I was not the same person. All the residuals of the aneurysm took a big toll on my body and still do.......every day of my life is different and I take one day at a time at my pace......Extra stress only makes things much harder for me............... We are survivors and we know our limits.............Listen to your body.
There for you. Jo Ann

Was it hard to get the disability? Right now I have a disaility plan that I had payed for through work for the lat several years. I too feel lilke I do okayy in my litle section of my world. but going much beyond that stresses me out way too much and then comes the bad headaches among other things. Thank you for your response .

I did not have a hard time getting approved.......... Much paperwork, tests and doctor visits, but I did everything they asked of me..... I only wish I had applied when my doctor told me to apply.....I paid for SS my whole life while I worked, but I kept putting off applying....Don't waste any time getting started and do everything in a timely manner......Don't be second guessing yourself..... If I can help, just let me know......

Thank you so much for your input. believe me I am learning that I have to limit myself no matter how good I feel . IF I overdo, I pay dearly for it. I am learning to accept and deal with it. But on the upside, I appreciate many more things about life now. Things that I had not had time in years to stop and look at or appreciate. The little things. I did see my neurosurgeon yesterday. I am off until July and will reevaluate at that time. I was fortunate that through my work for years I had paid for a short term and long term disability which is really paying off for me. The long term is a wonderful plan. I am a single mom. My daughter has one year of high school left. Then she will be going to college and leaving home. I think if I take disability, what will I do? Most of my "friends" jumped when I had the aneursyms. So I guess I am going to just take it day by day. Right now, I can live pretty stress free. Cant handle stress. It takes a horrible toll on my body. Maybe it was just time for us to slow down(the hard way) and enjoy life. And bless you for two craniotomies. One was enough for me!. It took me a while to come back up after that. But I did!! It is great to be a survivor!!.
