Hi All,
As someone who has recently been diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm, I've decided to start a blog to document the process leading up to, and after surgery. After seeing 1 or 2 videos of patients after surgery, It made me think that a more indepth look at the recovery process would be extremely beneficial to people who may be diagnosed in the future. If you're interested in watching my recovery via video and written updates, please check out thedisappearingscar.wordpress.com. I'd be happy to answer any questions or comments people may have via the blog as well. If the blog becomes successful, I'd really like to expand the blog to have many people's "video diary" of recovery. I think it's a great way to help others stay strong during what can be immensely stressful times. Thanks, and I hope to see you at the blog! -Scott Posted on 05/05/11, 02:06 pm |

I have walked the road of brain surgery twice, due to an
aneurysm....................The greatest advice that I sincerely offer to you is: Take one day at a time. Please do not set yourself up, by making a plan of what you expect to do after your surgery, because if things don't work out the way you planned, you will have major disappointment. Gather a good support group around you and take ONE DAY AT A TIME. Many positive thoughts sent your way.......... I am with you. Jo Ann

Great idea, do what ever you can to get through, group support is so helpful. I have been a nurse for most of my adult life and when i had my rupture and clipping surgery i felt so alone till i found some of these GREAT support groups online and that is when the mental recovery really started. I am glad for you your annie has been found before it ruptured, your surgery and recovery will be much less complicated , my very best to you

Thanks for the support Everyone!
I just updated the blog with a nice video slideshow showing some of the scans that identified the aneurysm and how the doctors plan to fix it. Since my aneurysm is of a fusiform nature, rather than the typical berry aneurysm, the solution is a little bit less common as well. check it out if it interests you, though I imagine once I've had my surgery, I may never want to look at another brain scan again. thedisappearingscar.wordpress.com. thanks again!

Wow, your blog is great!!, what a great help for people to see that need help understanding aneurysms, you are awesome and you are going to do just GREAT in your surgery, your attitude is in the right place. You are correct in saying that not alot of valuable info out there for people going to have surgery or recovering from. I had a rupture and my clipping surgery was an emmergency so much different from the controlled situation of a planned surgery, my VERY BEST to you i will be reading your blog as things progress, keep up the great attitude

Scott,
I'm very impressed with your videos and blogs. Keep your positive attitude! On 4/4/11 I had 3 clips inserted in my two cerebral aneurysms. I had no complications and will be returning back to work in 4 days after 6 weeks of medical leave. I felt ready to return after 4 weeks off but I listened to my family and doctor and stayed home longer. I'm glad I took their advice because I'm healing fine. My mantra has been, Relax, Sleep, Heal Prayers for blessings be with you, Linda

Hi All,
I just wanted to update you all to let you know my surgery went great! My folks said the doctor came out all smiles and said things went even better than expected. I get my stitches out tomorrow and could not be more excited! As someone who did not have an SAH or any other issues, my recovery has been great. I've been going for walks, doing some light reading, and engaging in plenty of great conversations with friends! I'd be happy to discuss the details if anyone is interested to see how things went on a more detailed basis. best wishes to all, and have a great memorial day weekend -Scott
