Hi I'm 22 years old, and I found out that I had a 2mm Aneurysm on the left side of my brain on 17Apr09. My doctor said that I should not worry myself too much as I am young and pretty healthy. However, I have been having headaces recently. It isn't extreemly bad, but its like constant presure in my head. It also gets a bit worse if I do any strenuous activities such as hiking. I'm scheduled for a visit with a neurologist on 29SEP09. Should I even be exercising? I was going to do a marathon in Janurary, but I'm deciding against it. I'm very worried about this and I need some advice.
Please Help!! Posted on 09/17/09, 05:09 pm |

Hi: i had a aneurysm rupture 20 months ago. It was only 5mm in size. I was very healthy and worked out at the gym every day. On the rupture day, I was at the gym. Got a bad headache and that was the last thing I remembered for 2 months. After being told to resume my life, went back to the gym, did as I use to, I felt the pressure on the head you talk about. Told the brain doctor about it and he ordered tests. I had a new annie and it was the same size as the one that ruptured. Coiling was done within a few weeks and this time I did not rupture. Get the help you need and fix it before it gets you. Recovery from fixing is far better than recovery from rupture. Watch the exercise with weights pulling on the neck and shoulders. Blood pressure is another thing to watch but you probably already know that. Take care of yourself and keep us posted.

HI
I would not do anything strenuous untill you see the doc on the 29th that way you can feel better about exercising and not be afraid. can i ask how you were diagnosed with your aneurysm, were you having headaches all along?? Alot of things factor in with these docs decision to do repair or monitor and see, and you should learn more with further testing of the aneurysm. some docs won't repair 3mm or smaller, but then again it depends on the condition of the vessel and the particular doc. I had one repaired after a rupture and one 3mm remaining and i have it monitered every year. I walk daily and my neurosurgeon strongly encouraged it to keep my blood pressure down. The very best of luck to you at your doc visit, and keep in touch. Ruthie

My brain aneurysm ruputed while I was laying on the couch and I turned to look at my daughter. My blood clotted quickly. I was able to have the coiling done. My aneurysm was like mickey mouse ears. It is much less invasive than the clip technique that my Mom had done 11 years ago. My Mom has an aneurysm they are watching. The doctor said they may be able to do the coiling technique as an out patient procedure and recovery time would be much shorter. You don't have any of the bleeding to recover from. Good luck to you. I am going on 3 weeks since my coiling procedure.

Hi all,
I just picked up my print outs of my MRI and I'm excited and a little apprehensive about my visit (just want to get some form of closure and get this taken care of I guess). I was diagnosed in Arizona. Its I bit scary when you're living alone. My whole family is back East, so I just hope nothing happens to me while I'm here. Thank you all for the post, and I will keep you posted on my visit with the doctor. Did any of you have any difficulties after you surgery?

I'm just weak. I have some numbness in my arms. I feel very blessed that I am ok. Hang in there. If it makes you feel better have someone check on you every couple of hours. I was scared to stay at home while I recover. My Mom stayed with me last week. My husband calls me every two hours this week. It gives me some piece of mind. My Mom had an aneurysm that was clipped 11 years ago. The doctor is watching another brain aneurysm my Mom has. She was told you can have one and it may never burst.

Hi alll,
I just wanted to keep you guys posted on my progress. I went to see a neurologis and was told that I have a special type of headace called post exertion, and it is unrealted to my aneurysm. I had another MRA done, to see if my current aneurysm grew and thankfully the size is still the same. I'lll just have to get one done every year to monitor it. Thank you all for your support and I will keep you updated on everything. :-)
