I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm on April 15, 2009. I had coiling done and so far it seemed to have worked okay; however, I have the most horrible headaches everyday. My Neurologist told me to take Extra Strength Tylenol (4,000 mg/day), but I am taking more than I should because it doesn't seem to help. I was only prescribed a week supply of pain pills when I released and I am sceptical about becoming addicted to them so I don't make prescribed pain pills and issue...however, I am tempted to because I can't seem to make these headaches subside. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do?

Wow,,that is a lot of tylenol,,there must be other pain meds out there, not good for your kidneys to take so much. Maybe alternate with Ibueprofin. I have been very fortunate to not suffer from any headaches. I was clipped in Feb. 2008. You should go back to doc. and get some more advice..

Hi, I had a ruptue and clipping on feb 8th 2009. I'm on coumadin and can only take Tynenol. When I was in the hospital they had me take Firocet. I used to be addicted to pain pills, so I did some research and found out that they have Firocet with tynenol and my PCP said that would be safer than pain pills. I only take 1 a day and it has to be a really bad headache for me to take one. The headaches are getting better so some days I only take 2 Tynenol every 6 hours. Hang in there it will get better.
Love, Jennifer

Thanks everyone! I have to go the a Pain Clinic in September and maybe then I can ask about the Firocet. Is it addictive? My mother has been terminal for some time and I see her addiction to the pain meds they give her and I don't want to be that way. I hate taking so many pills everyday, but my headaches are triggered from so many things; i.e., weather change, sun, waking up, walking up stairs (higher altitutes), etc. I am afraid to say anything to my doctor because I fear they may seem to think I am imagining these things, but I know my body and it is real; most people are not affected like this. I would think that since my surgery I would be all better, without headaches.

Hi Keryl,
I had an aneurysm July 07, clipped. Unfortunately I still have headaches : (.. I have been back to have MRI's etc, and fortunately everything was good. But don't take any chance, if your doc doesn't want to give you tests, go to another. I donnot like taking meds, I go to a massage therapist, and use tiger balm and other chinese balms to help me. When I really cannot take it anymore, I have Darvocet. I very rarely take it though. But sometimes you have too. I find that if I let it go too long, I chench my teeth to the point that the one side of my head where I had the anneurysm, swells and then I am in really big trouble. Well if I can help in any way, please do not hesitate to write me. Sandralee, how long after your first anneurysm did the second one appear? Thanks, Polina : )
