My hubby has one, and says this is worse than in the descending area. Last fall it was 3.7, now it's 4 cm. He has been reading a lot about it and is finding it is in a very difficult location for surgery, plus once surgery is done, will last 5 years, tops and can't be done again. He understands a surgeon won't talk to him until it is 5 cm, and it may not reach that point, but since it has grown since fall, he thinks it will. He will have it tested again this coming fall to see if it is growing, and every 6 months from now on. Until then, he is getting names of surgeons, researching all that can go wrong, and making me very nervous. Nothing I can say to him will calm him down and the stress I fear is going to make this thing grow. Does any one have any experience with one of these, especially in the same area, and / or any wise words of wisdom with a stubborn person who knows "so much" ? thank you, thank you.

" Oopps! I forgot to mention, my surgery was in 2000. I am approaching my 9th anniversary in November.

Also my aneurysm was located at the aortic root (considered most difficult to repair-highest mortality rate).

" Music, Paige and Tina, and everyone else, too I would like to thank you all for your posts and advice. Everything has been taken to heart and passed on to my husband. He will be going in for his 6 month tests within the next few weeks so we will see if there is any growth.

Tina, 9 years, how wonderful!!!

All the research he has done has led him to the Cleveland Clinic. Has anyone heard of this? If he has the option of having elective surgery he thinks he would like to go here.

How is the recuperation? He is really concerned about this. How is life after? Are there a lot of limitations? What about flying?

Where do you all go to find out accurate information?? There seems to be so much inaccurate, or lack of info out there.

Thank you so much. You all are wonderful for sharing your lives. I wish you well and you have been added to my prayer list. "
