Thanks for the replies. I've had an angiogram. The annie that was coiled (stent-assisted)was a 15mm right para-ophthalmic with very broad neck. They comment that ' some residual filling at neck' I don't know what that means????
Im not too concerned about the two small ones as they are only 2mm each but the one i am asking quetions about is the 14mm annie that they are not going to do anything about because it is EXTRADRAL.I would so like to hear from anyone who has had an annie that was EXTRDURAL. Ruthie sent me some info on what it meant and I think the doctors comments of don't worry are not good enough as it seems to me if this annie burst it could still do damage.Everything to do with this annie seems to revolve around it being extradural. Please can someone tell me if the risks are minimised by this 'bleeding out' as it's driving me crazy.

" HI Cazs, you can reply to the same topic so everybody see gather the subject easily.

15mm is indeed in need of treatment. I am going to be honest and tell you to the best I could. ( I have been searching aneurysm information online and with surgeons) I think everyone should know exactly what is going on about her/his condition.

some residual filling at neck, means that the annie is NOT completely coiled, there are some parts at the neck that the coils cannot fill. Since it has residuals, there might be a small % the annie will develop from the residual.

As to your EXTRDURAL question. I honestly dont know since I dont have one. Google search is your best friend.

ANY RUPTURE/BLEEDING from annie is DEADLY.

30-50% death rate before cure
30% permanent serious morbidity after cure
30% normal life after cure

If the annie is inside your skull and it ruptures, the blood's chemical will erode the membrane of the brain and then erode the brain. Once that happens, it is too late. That is the worst scenario.

I suggest you go see as many neuro-surgeons as you can. Whoever says NOT TO WORRY can go take a long hike. "

" Thanks for your advice Jeff.I am going to try ans see a diffeent neurosurgeon. I live in Aussie and have only been here for 6 years. We haven't got private insurance and I wonder if that is why they seem so 'relaxed' (hopefully I'm wrong) Anyway I will try and see someone as a private patient and maybe then I'll gather all the facts. What a nightmare!!! By the way the treated annie didn't burst, they were found by chance when i had a ct scan.So no after effects at all from coiling. Sorry this is a support group and all i have done so far is go on about me me me. I hope to offer support to others as soon as I have sorted my head a little "

" I think you misunderstood my #1 post.

If your annie ruptured before coiling. You can't coil it until the blood stops and the vessel heals. But that would be too late as you are likely to be rushed to the local ER and whoever is on call there will perform the best they could and it is usually not the best performance they give under such emergency. Most likely a craniotomy to clip or bypass the ruptured annie. Either method is bad. That is my guess.

So your coiling is supposed to be done BEFORE rupture. but again, the coiling left some openings for the annie as residual.

I know it costs an arm and a leg to see private surgeons. Here in the states, my work provides the insurance. Do your work or government(usually not the best) provide insurance at a affordable rate?

Dont worry about asking too much, I am pleased to help. Maybe later in life, you could offer your knowledge to somebody who has your conditions so they can have a better life. "
