In Jan I had stent assisted coiling on large aneurysm and was told I have 3 others. 2 small and one large. I was told if large one bursts it will bleed "out" so not to worry. I am due another MRI in June.I don't talk to anyone about this as I don't want them to worry but I am feeling a bit vunerable at the moment. If the untreated large one does burst and it bleeds out what actually happens. Does it mean I don't get damaged or what???Am I worrying too much ? Also how quickly do the little ones grow?.I should have asked the neurosurgeon these things but was a bit shocked at the time. Can anyone give me the facts please.

Hi cazs,
Anytime a brain aneurysm bursts or bleeds out there is a potential for damage to the brain. If the aneurysm just leaks a little blood or completely bursts all depends on the weakness of the artery, the size of the aneurysm and possibly the persons blood pressure at the time. I honestly don't know about the term "bleeds out" and" not to worry", thats a new one to me, all aneurysms are a cause for concern. Are you having the large one fixed after you recover from this coiling? The small ones, usually if they are below a certain size some docs just observe, I have 2 like this that get checked once a year. As far as the small ones growing, I guess that all depends on the person and how you take care of yourself, mine have not changed size in 4 years. Here is what I have done to change my lifestyle- quit smoking, get exercise daily, walking is good, keep stress down, keep blood pressure under contro i take medication for it, don't lift heavy objects or strain yourself or hold in sneezes, and keep alcohol to a once in a while thing, and I get a CT angeogram once a year. I am sorry for your tough diagnosis, keep in touch and we will help you through this. You really should ask your neurosurgeon if your not sure of something, call him and leave a message, write your questions down so you don't get nervous and forget, I have to do this for everything. Hope this helped, Ruthie

Hey there, I just had a crainy for my annie 4 wweeks ago today and I also have 2 small ones that they are just going to observe, just like Babyruthie's. It makes me nervous, but reading other people stories helps me get through it and not be so scared. I had to call me neurosurgeon today and ask about 7 or 8 questions that I forgot to ask. Hopefully being on here will help you get through it too. Keep reading and it will help. I agree with Babyruthie about taking care of yourself too. Let us know if we can help....ivajorri
