I am anemic. I tried iron pills 975mg for 6 months and they did not correct the problem. I have seen a GI doctor and tested EGD, Coloscopy & Pillcam and they did not find any reason for the blood in my stool. My ferritin level is 5,iron level 9,hemaglobin 10-12. My hematolgoist thinks my anemia could be a malasportion problem. I have now started IV iron infusions and have to have benadryl prior because I had a negative reaction the first time they gave me the test dose. I will have these once a week for 4 weeks. I had my second infusion on Tuesday 9/8/09. Since my second infusion I have had horrible back pain and my leg pain is worse than before (one of my symptoms from the low iron). Is this normal? Also, when can I expect to start feeling better?
