Hi Sarah
I'm no expert, but I'm in a similar position whereby anemia has 'suddenly' happened after years without issue. I definitely get a shortness of breath if I overdo things - ie walking up more than a couple of flights of stairs. So you're not alone there! All I can say is keep hassling your doctor about finding out what is going on. Trust that they will find out what is causing your issues. Thanks Al

Just from my personal experience, please go get the shortness of breath checked out. I have been Anemic on/off for years and never had shortness of breath until this past mid-Feb after a bad bought of Bronchitis. I was given inhalers for the bad coughing and that was it. The coughing finally subsided toward the end of Feb but I was left with shortness of breath. I'm obese and so have gotten occasionally winded but nothing like what I was experiencing and not Asthmatic. After a week and half, I had my husband take me to the ER on 3/3/09 and there I was diagnosed with multiple blood clots in my lungs (Pulmonary Embolism). I was admitted overnight and started on blood thinners. They did an ultrasound on both legs and another clot (DVT) was found in my lower left leg. So PLEASE go get your shortness of breath checked out.
Take care and blessings, Tabby
