Does lack of iron make you feel off balance

My iron dropped to 6. No idea why really except stress perhaps and thyroid stopped working for a while. I still cant walk in a straight line as I should even with a limpp because a knee op went wrong. And at times feel quite dizzy. Blacked out in the back yard a couple of weeks ago for first time. Only one home, 6 ft fences all round, no idea how long I was out for and dont remember falling and how I got hurt or what I hit to cause some of it. Could have been the garden shed, two ladders behind it, a pile of pavers in a blocked heap left from doing front and drive or cement garden edge as was in that area. Have others experienced this please?

" Hi there Aust, it is my understanding that the symptoms you have described could quite easily be related to your iron levels. "

" Yep. I do believe that anemia can cause loss of balance and dizziness. Red blood cells carry oxygen to the brain, so if we don't have enough oxygen, we can get clumsy and fall. You are describing me! I never know when I'm going to lose balance, so I tend to extend my arms like wings sometimes, just to keep walking straight! I don't care if it looks silly, ether. Whatever it takes to keep going... I haven't blacked out though. "

" I get "near" black outs- especially if I'm in the shower too long with the water too hot. It's like the anemia makes me dizzy and my brain doesn't get enough blood, coupled with the hot water dropping my blood pressure- cut to me getting tunnel vision and needing to sit down or turn the water to cold. "

" Thanks for your help. head does seem to improving as iron levels go up.
Found a sugar.gluten free tablet to take. So far no more black outs, and never want again. Injuries still hurt in places. Not recommended. "
