Birth Control?

I was diagnosed as Anemic back in December, although it started back in September. I went about 1 1/2 a years without getting my period, and then it came back in June. But since then, I have been getting progressively weaker. I started on Iron Supplements after I was diagnosed, and my Anemia symptoms got better, although I never felt completely strong. My symptoms get really bad around my period and since I stopped taking the supplements (1.5 months) I feel like I did before I started on the supplements (light headed, weak, fatigued, hungry etc). I'm starting to think that this could be related to my period. I am going to see a doctor this week, but what are my options? Since it seems that this anemia is related to my period, would going on birth control to regulate things be a realistic option?

" Yes it would. Most of the time if it is your period causing your symptoms and anemia but there are no fibroids or other contributing factors, they will have you go on the pill to help control the bleeding. If you want, the other option is the Depo-Provera shot, it stops or shortens your period after about 6 months of use.

I'm not sure of your age, but if you aren't in the business of making babies anymore you could talk to your OB about a uterine ablation. It is a same day procedure most of the time- they basically "burn" the inside of your uterus lining and the scar tissue prevents a full period or stops your period all together, and skips the need for a hysterectomy. I'm trying to get an appointment scheduled for my anual check up and he's willing to go that route since my tubes are tied and I have 3 children.

Anything that will help the dropping numbers! I'm just tired of being tired :) "
